Robert Remarque Grund

   WHO am I?
My name is Robert Remarque Grund, who is the second member of the four- generation Deaf family. For a long while, I didn’t know where my actual location of residence is. But at least, I do know that I live on Earth.

   WHAT is my job?
I first knocked by the doorstep of DPR Korea right after my 18th birthday. A year later, the doors of DPR Korea have opened. Since then, I have been knocking on the doors of DPR Korea as an annual thing. My task is to keep the door as wide open as possible between FRG and the DPRK for the interpersonal exchange of the deaf, the blind and the deaf-blind in those 2 countries. The Federal Republic of Germany and the DPR Korea have ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). This is the reason why we, deaf, blind and deafblind from both countries, shall continue to exchange views on the effective implementation of the CRPD and also strive towards world peace – to ensure the benefits of the future generations with visual and hearing impairments.

   WHY do I work here?
The FRG and the DPRK have not only already paid meticulous attention to our association's work, but have also guaranteed the exchange support among the deaf, blind and deafblind from both countries, e.g. regarding visas and exit permits.
The responsibilities for the CRPD implementation are laid out with the governments of both countries. According to the disability slogan "Nothing About Us Without Us", the active participation of the German and Korean deaf, blind and deafblind members towards the UN CRPD implementation, is mandatory for both FRG and DPRK. I would like to continue working on this accordingly.
